How to Measure Custom Cushions
Good measurements begin with knowing what you are ordering: a complete cushion for a seating area, or a replacement cover for an existing insert. Use inches and write down each dimension before selecting your product options.
1. Choose the right starting point
For a new cushion, measure the seating area. For a cover-only order, check the dimensions and shape of the insert you intend to keep. A stretched, loose or flattened old cover is not a reliable substitute for measuring the insert. Do not add a fit allowance or subtract from your measurements unless our team has confirmed the adjustment for your project.
2. Record width, depth and thickness
- Width: left to right across the seat.
- Depth: front to back, keeping the tape straight.
- Thickness or height: the cushion height you want; check the selected product's available options.
Measure more than one point. Record both front and rear widths and check the depth on both sides. Measure each cushion position separately rather than assuming several seats are identical.

3. Check the furniture as well as the cushion
A thicker cushion changes your sitting height and the space below a table or armrest. Check doors, drawers and other moving parts around built-in seating. For a banquette, record each section and explain how the pieces meet.
4. Ask about unusual shapes
A bay window, tapered seat, curved corner, L-shape or T-shape may need instructions beyond a standard rectangle. Contact us before ordering with your measurements and a clear description of the seating. Do not enter the widest dimension and assume a shaped fit will be made automatically.
5. Review your configuration
Check the dimension labels, units, fabric, filling, piping and ties where offered. Review the configured price and purchase option before adding to cart. If your required dimension is unavailable in the selector, ask for help instead of choosing an approximate size.
